11 Fantastic Natural Home Remedies for Eczema You Have to Know About
Finding good natural home remedies for eczema can be hard. There’s a lot of misinformation out there.
But I have a boyfriend who used to have eczema, and he’s helped me compile the best, and most popular natural home remedies for eczema, so enjoy!
1. Food. What you eat has a huge effect on how you feel and how your skin looks. One of the best natural home remedies for eczema is to know which foods cause eczema. The most common foods are gluten, milk protein (casein), and sugars. Try an elimination diet, and see which foods make your eczema worse.
2. Coconut Oil. Many health food stores carry virgin coconut oil. It is a fantastic natural home remedy for eczema. Buy a bottle of that, and start applying it on your skin where you have eczema. Apply as many times as you feel is necessary. 2-3 times a day should be enough, but again, if you feel like applying more, it won’t hurt you since coconut oil is completely natural.
3. Sea. My boyfriend’s cousins father (tough one!) always gets rid of his eczema when he goes on vacation and spends time in the sea. You see, the sea is made up of saltwater, which has many healing properties on the human body and skin, so if you live near the sea, try going for a swim every day for a few weeks and see what happens. You can also buy natural sea salts from your local health store and take a bath.
4. Moisturizing. It’s vital to moisturize your skin when you have eczema, as sometimes your skin may be causing problems just because it is so dry. This is especially true if you live in the northern hemisphere, where the weather is cold and dry.
5. Cleansing. If your body is not well taken care of, your skin will reflect it. Many have said that a 3-day apple fast is effective for not only eczema, but for acne as well. If you have a juicer, it’s a very cleanse. Buy organic apples if possible, but don’t worry if you can’t find them. Do your best.
6. Multivitamin. Taking a multivitamin can help significantly, because in this day and age we are not getting all the nutrients we need. There are many multivitamin supplements out there. Many of them are no worth your money, so make sure you do your research. I personally use a natural, and chemical-free multivitamin made by Xtend-Life from New Zealand.
7. Acupuncture. When my boyfriend was living in Spain (this was before I met him), he said he went to see a Chinese acupuncturist, which improved his eczema significantly. If you have an opportunity to try acupuncture or Chinese medicine, definitely go check it out.
8. Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is one of the more popular home remedies for eczema. Buy unfiltered apple cider vinegar and mix it with water. The most common solution is 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% water. You can put it in a spray bottle and spray on affected areas, or you can simply use something to dab it on your skin. It may sting at first. That’s normal and only lasts for about 10-15 seconds.
9. Avoid Chemicals. I know this is not exactly a home remedy, but sometimes the chemicals and fragrances in shampoos, soaps, and other hygienic products can worsen your eczema, so make sure you use hypoallergenic products, or completely natural alternatives.
10. Stress. Researchers and scientists all over the world are discovering the effects of stress, and I’m sure if you think about it, you will discover that when you’re stressed, your skin may get worse, and you feel worse. Meditation, massage, exercising, and simply relaxing can help relieve stress.
11. Natural Cream. There are many eczema creams out there. Most of them are do more harm than good, but in my research I’ve found one that is excellent, which is the DermCare system for Eczema & Dermatitis by ZenMed. Different products work for different people, so make sure you try different options.
That’s all I have for you. Eczema can be very problematic. I know my boyfriend has suffered from it, but he has gotten over it by moisturizing daily and taking care of his body.
I wish you the best of luck, and have a fantastic day!
