How to Find the Best Foundation for Oily Skin

by Ingela

Every single time you look in the mirror and see your oily skin, you may sigh and curse your genes.  I know; life isn’t fair.  But there’s no need to “dazzle” people with your shiny face.  If you use the best foundation for oily skin you can make your face look smooth without the shine.

Now, I’m not a big proponent of using make up everyday, as it can really mess up your skin and make existing problems worse. I understand if you want to use it though, and I definitely want you to find the best products that are safe and won’t damage your complexion.

Do You Need a Foundation?

If you want to cover up your skin well then you probably do.

The best foundation for oily skin absorbs excess oil from the skin.  Some even have ingredients that help dry out zits and pimples.

It also protects your skin against pollution and damage from UV-A rays.  In addition, foundation hides imperfections, balances out your skin tone and improves the overall texture and complexion of your skin.

Choosing The Best Foundation For Oily Skin

Now for the tricky part. How can you tell which foundation is best for your oily skin?

Luckily, cosmetic companies have made things easier for you, because they manufacture makeup for specific skin types.

If your skin is oily, buy makeup designed for oily skin.

Simple, right?  But wait!  There’s more.

When buying foundation, you must consider how much coverage you will need.  If your skin is relatively smooth and blemish free, you can opt for a light foundation for daily wear.  This will allow your skin to breathe.

Light foundation in compact and loose powder form can soak up oils and reduce shine.  Powders in foundations provide a matte finish that is best for oily skin.

If your skin needs more coverage, a cake foundation in solid form or sticks is best for people who suffer from oily skin.  Cake foundation conceals imperfections and is often used for photo shoots and public performances.  However, I wouldn’t recommend it for everyday use.

But the most important thing is this; when choosing the best foundation for oily skin, make sure it’s all natural and non-comedogenic.  This means it won’t clog your pores.

What’s Best For Your Skin

If you care about your skin, and I’m sure you do, you wouldn’t want to put anything on it that could harm or irritate it.

A number of traditional makeup foundations contain potential skin irritants such as bismuth oxychloride, parabens, BHT, and artificial fragrances.

You may want to consider mineral makeup foundations that contain natural ingredients.  Some of the best foundations for oily skin contain zinc oxide and serecite that reduce inflammation and help absorb excess oils.

If you have sensitive skin or just want the very best and safest, natural brands of cosmetics will carry the best foundation for oily skin and may just work best for you.
