If you have reached this site you must be deeply concerned about a serious medical condition. Perhaps you or someone you care for has been diagnosed with genital warts.
You must be asking, “Are genital warts curable?”
When I researched this question I discovered that genital warts are not really curable.
You may think that genital warts can be cured, but the treatment only alleviates or eliminates the symptoms for genital warts. You may be able to get rid of the warts but the HPV virus that causes the infection remains in your body.
What is HPV?
HPV or human papillomavirus is a strain of virus that causes genital warts. It can be treated but not cured. Genital warts are symptoms of the virus. When you treat the warts they go away but the virus remains.
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t live a symptom-free life, so all is not lost.
Prevention is Key
Genital warts are not curable but they can be prevented. HPV is a sexually transmitted disease. The virus is spread through direct skin contact.
Wearing a condom can reduce the chance that you will get infected with HPV, but it is no guarantee. That’s because a condom does not cover the entire genital region.
And you can still become infected with HPV even if you are having protected sex.
Women can be immunized with a vaccine to prevent cervical cancer and other diseases caused by HPV. The vaccine can prevent most forms of genital warts in women, although I have not researched the vaccine, so I cannot say much about it.
In general I am very cautious about vaccines. Make sure you do your research before you get it.
How are Genital Warts Treated?
If you already have genital warts, you next question will be, “How are genital warts treated? Is removal possible?”
The good news is, genital warts can be treated and they can be removed
If you want to get rid of your genital warts, you must first build up your immune system. Eat healthy foods, avoid smoking and alcohol, take a high-quality multivitamin supplement, and exercise regularly. A strong immune system will suppress the virus and keep it dormant so that warts will stop to grow.
Topical medications can be applied to remove genital warts. However, these remedies require many weeks of regular use before they can take effect.
A doctor can quickly remove genital warts by freezing them off (cryosurgery), burning them off (electrocautery) or using trichloracetic acid.
What You Can Do If You Have Genital Warts
We now know that genital warts are not curable but you should not let this affect your life. There are many natural treatments that can cure the symptoms if not the disease.
Removal of your genital warts is possible but you have to boost your immune system to keep the warts from growing back and causing other health problems. Find out more about how to get rid of warts naturally so you can go back to enjoying a normal life.
